- Rabbi Yitzchak Breitowitz, Kehillat Ohr Somayach, Jerusalem
“Dr. Frances’s presentation was so clear, concise, and deeply encouraging to participants. He gave very solid advice in a way that is easy to grasp and enjoyable to listen to. I feel any shul community or group will gain tremendously from Dr. Frances’s presentation and his answering the questions which weigh on many minds.”

About the Presenter:
Dr. Koby Frances is a licensed clinical psychologist with fifteen years of experience specializing in sexuality issues and complex developmental trauma. His clinical background is in psychoanalysis and Internal Family Systems (IFS) and he is a trained Sensorimotor Psychotherapy practitioner (Level 2). In addition to his private practice, he has held academic appointments at several undergraduate and graduate psychology programs. He currently divides his time between seeing clients, supervising therapists and offering training and support to rabbis in the frum community.

About the Topic:
While the Orthodox community continues to grapple with the social effects of new sexual ideologies and norms, therapists and educators on the front lines are rarely given the opportunity to learn about the actual scientific and therapeutic issues involved, without the backdrop of a political agenda.

Some of the questions that will be clarified in this series include: What does it mean to be inherently gay or straight? Is someone with same-sex attractions able and allowed to marry heterosexually? In what ways can they realistically change? How can therapists apply their usual professional theories and skills without worrying that they are practicing “conversion therapy”? Why are so many religious teens and young adults gravitating to LGBTQ+ identities and communities?

In this 3-part live video training series, Dr. Koby Frances invites participants to learn some new Torah-compatible, scientific and humane ways to answer these and other questions.
